Legacy Guard terms

The full terms of service are being finalized with counsel. Until they are published, these are the rules the product already follows, and they will carry into the final terms.

What Legacy Guard is

Legacy Guard is software provided through estate planning law firms. It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Nothing you do in Legacy Guard changes your estate plan. Your attorney's advice comes first. State rules shown in the app and on this site are general information.

Plans and payment

Basic is free for every household. Complete is $149 a year or $14.99 a month, with a 30 day trial that needs no card. Extra storage is $29 a year per 100 GB. The 20 year hold is a one time $199. Firms pay nothing to join and may buy prepaid Complete seats in blocks at the firm pricing shown to them. New subscribers see new prices right away; existing subscribers move to them at their next renewal. Legacy Guard never pays money to a firm.

Who receives what, and when

You choose your recipients and, for each item, whether they receive it now or after you are gone. After is the default. Nothing is delivered automatically, by a timer, by inactivity, or by anyone other than two different Legacy Guard verifiers completing a checklist after a waiting period of at least 72 hours. The firm reports and attests; it never approves. Legal documents are never distributed through the Stories side.

After a release

Recipients can reach what was delivered for two years, with a warning at month 20 and reminders after. The underlying stories are not deleted at that point; the household still owns them.

When a plan ends

When Complete ends, the household enters Kept mode for two years: everything stays readable, exportable, and deliverable, and nothing new can be added. Twelve monthly notices then name a deletion date at 36 months. Reactivating, buying the 20 year hold, or exporting prevents deletion. A trial that was never paid keeps its stories readable for 90 days and nothing from it is ever delivered.

Deletion

You may delete your account from the Account page with a 30 day undo. Only the person who asked is removed. Nothing is deleted while a verification is open.

Your content

What you make is yours. Export everything is available on every plan. You are responsible for your stories password; a forgotten password can be reset while you are signed in, and nothing is lost.
