Legacy Guard

The Stories side

What your family will have of you

Stories written, spoken, filmed, or told with photos. A guide that asks one good question at a time. Sealed letters. The people who will receive each one. Every item belongs to the one person who made it. Not the spouse, not the firm, not Legacy Guard.

Your guide asksWhat do you want your grandchildren to know about money?

  4. 4Years pass. It stays sealed. Not the firm, not Legacy Guard can read it.

  6. 6Emily opens it with her email. She has two years to save everything.

Stories in your own voice

Complete

Write it down, record your voice, record a video, share a photo, or upload a file you already have.

Each story has a type (Story, Memory, or Values), a title, up to six photos, who it is for, and when they receive it. Video up to 200 MB, audio up to 50 MB, photos up to 10 MB each. A device check lets you pick a microphone and camera and test for three seconds before you begin.

The guide

Complete

One good question at a time, so a story is never hard to start.

Questions from ten categories, by email at the frequency you choose, never in your quiet hours. The guide has three stages as your stories grow: just starting out, getting to know you, and knows your story well, when it asks about the people in your stories. Ask me later teaches it what you avoid. Your firm never sees the guide.

Legacy letters

Complete

Letters to the people you love, sealed until the moment you choose.

Who it is for, a title, the letter, and when it is delivered: now, or after you are gone. Seal it and the words are hidden until you unseal. Private to the one person who wrote it.

Recipients and delivery

Complete

Choose who receives which stories and letters, with a message in your words they read first.

A name, how they are related, an email, and a personal message. Tick the items each person receives, add a one line note per item, and set the timing: now, or after you are gone. See exactly what each person will receive. Recipients never need an account.

Legacy Organizer

Complete

Family history, traditions, artifacts, letters, and values, kept year round.

One entry each, with a Legacy Roadmap of what matters, what has been captured, and what is next. Private to you; your firm sees only that you started.

Digital assets inventory

Complete

Where your executor can find access to your online accounts. Never a password.

Email, social media, online financial accounts, crypto, subscriptions, photos and cloud, domains, devices, and your password manager, each with where the access information lives and what should happen to it. Plus a checklist for Apple Legacy Contact, Google Inactive Account Manager, Facebook legacy contact, and password manager emergency access.

Authorized contacts and quiet check-ins

Basic, free

Up to three people who can report a passing and who are asked to check on you if you go quiet.

If you are away far longer than your own normal, Legacy Guard sends a warm note, then a check-in with a one tap I'm OK, then asks your authorized contacts. Set a pause date before a trip. This never releases anything.

Verified release

Complete

After a passing, two people at Legacy Guard verify before anything is delivered.

The person it is about is emailed a halt link the moment a report opens. The firm attests but never approves. A waiting period of at least three days, normally seven, passes with no sign of life. Then two different verifiers complete the checklist and approve. Every step lands in an audit log nobody can edit.

Encrypted on your device

Complete

Every story, photo, recording, letter, and message is scrambled in your browser before it is saved.

One content key per person, locked with your stories password. One item key per story. Files are encrypted in 4 MB chunks as they upload. Not your spouse, not your firm, not Legacy Guard can read them.

The 20 year hold

Complete

A one time purchase that keeps everything held and delivery armed for 20 years.

$199 once. Nothing is deleted for lapse, and delivery stays armed whatever happens to the plan. Offered first whenever you start to cancel Complete.

How the encryption actually works

Your key, item keys, the escrow split in two halves, the two moments the server can act, and the honest limits.
